A Note from the Founder

It’s not every day that I sit down to write a blog post and express myself thoroughly, but I will give it my best shot. I am thrilled to finally have the app available for our users, helping to build a community of pet enthusiasts who love spending time with and caring for animals.

Not to get too nostalgic, but I want to share the motivation behind creating this app. Growing up, our neighbor had a beautiful and energetic golden retriever—as all golden retrievers should be. I used to peep over the terrace and have long conversations with him, as he was quite a vocal dog. However, I always felt sad when his owners left him alone for hours, sometimes even days. He had only a small area to roam around in, and someone would come by twice a day to feed him. Most of the time, he just lay there, retreating to his cage, only to repeat the cycle the next day. Even when his owners were present, the situation wasn’t much different.

I had the urge to free him from that cage and bring him up to live with me, but I was helpless. Sadly, the dog eventually succumbed to illness and passed away quietly. It was not the kind of ending I could easily come to terms with, and I always blamed his suffering on the neglect he endured throughout his life.

Please don’t criticize me for not reporting this at the time—I genuinely had no idea that it was possible.

Fast forward a few years, and when I reflect on those moments, I always wonder—if the owners had a trustworthy place to leave their dog, would they have done so? Finding a reliable caretaker is always a challenge, but had I been given the chance, I would have done it happily. That thought eventually led to the idea of providing this opportunity to everyone who loves animals. You don’t have to be a registered organization—local recognition and trust are all you need to become a responsible caretaker. This is where the idea for Nightingale was born.

I’m not great at naming things, so I always turn to my friends for brainstorming sessions. One night, during such a discussion, the name “Nightingale” came up randomly, and it stuck with me. The more I thought about it, the more motivated I became to bring this idea to life.

By the time you read this, the app may have gone through multiple iterations and significant growth, but at its core, it remains dedicated to building a trustworthy community of caretakers worldwide. It also aims to bring a little more joy into your life—because, honestly, I’ve never seen a sad person with a pet.

After months of hard work, we have done our best to release the app in its most functional form. However, I acknowledge that we still have a long way to go. Your patience and feedback mean everything to us as we strive to improve. Please feel free to share your suggestions, critique its functionality, try to break it, and report any issues. I will do my best to go through all of them and take your input into account as we continue to grow the app.

I have many plans for Nightingale and this community, and I hope you’ll stick around to be part of the journey.

Until next time – Keep spreading love and care for all.
